Founder and Former Artistic Director, Salon Concerts and Chamber Music in Public Schools
Robert Rudié has had a long career as violinist, conductor, chamber music player, educator, and actor. Born of French parents in New York City, he began his study of the violin at age seven and made his concert debut at age ten. He graduated from the Julliard Graduate School with honors. Since then his musical career has included: Concertmaster and Assistant Conductor, Oklahoma Symphony; Concertmaster, American Symphony, New York City Ballet, and Orchestra of the Americas in New York City; Concertmaster, Westchester Symphony; Concertmaster, Aspen Festival Orchestra; Guest Concertmaster, Dallas and Honolulu Symphonies. Mr. Rudié has made seven tours of the United States, Canada, and Mexico as recitalist and soloist with orchestra under Columbia Artists Management, and five tours as conductor and soloist of the Rudié Sinfonieta under the same management. He has been a participant in seven Casals Festivals in Europe and Puerto Rico, and has been a member of the faculty at Vassar College, University of Oklahoma, Westchester Conservatory, and the University of Texas at Austin.
As actor and violinist, Rudié has made many coast-to-coast tours of his one-man shows, PAGANINI!, and HEROES AND LOVERS. His performance as Paganini won an Emmy Award for two one-hour “Meeting of Minds” PBS-TV shows with Steve Allen.
Mr. Rudié was founder and is a current board member of SALON CONCERTS, which presents an annual series of chamber music concerts in Austin, and which also sponsors the CHAMPS project, which coaches student chamber music ensembles in the public schools of the Austin area.
