Character exercise in Dvořák!

We talked quite a bit about the opening character as compared to the character at big #6 and again at big #8. We came up with adjectives, character descriptions, and even some imagery.

This week, play from #3 to #6. How does this spot differ from the opening material? What imagery or adjectives can we come up with? Come up with your own story and be ready to explain how it would affect our sounds!

Cello practice spots:

Dvorak- 

  • Keep checking on intonation/notes around rehearsal 6 

  • Experiment with different fingerings in the solo lines. Pick ones that work best for you even if it’s different than what I suggest in the parts! 

  • Get ready to play a passage next week unmuted! Remember it’s okay to play it under tempo yet beautifully if you need to.

For next week in class: 

  • Prepare rehearsal 4 until mm 60 

  • In addition please prepare mm 123 until rehearsal 15

  • I’ll ask you to play one or both in the breakout room next week. 

  • We will also get really specific in our character exploration for these micro sections, great work coming up with an overarching narrative for the whole Mvt this week!
